I think you've got it wrong way round. There seems to be something (but I don't know what) in Suse 10 which is blocking something in regular OO, or perhaps precedes it in a path or something. Clearing out all OO from what Suse delivered, and starting afresh with the regular OO download fixed it for me. You can tell what Suse provided because they spell it OpenOffice (note the caps), whereas all rpms from OOo are called openoffice (no caps) when you search in Yast.
