This message is in response to an email from CPHennessy who replied to a query
from me when he said
"Hi David,
What happens if you just try to open the Excel file with OpenOffice.org ?
That was in response to my email saying
> "I am a new user who previously worked with Excel. Is there any way that I

> sheet?
>
> I tried using copy and paste but that did not work.
I had no luck when I opened Calc and then tried
File >Open >C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe
At that point it did not permit me to enter the file name that I hoped to open
within Calc. Instead I was presented with a completely dull grey screen apart
from the top blue band with the OOo icon at top left.
If I may ask one further query. Is it possible to set 2 decimal places in a
spreadsheet? Searching in Help leaves me thinking it cannot be done at this
stage. If that is currently the situation can it be considered for the next
update, and what would be the appropriate procedure for asking for it to be
considered?
Later
I have at last managed to get the details into a Calc spreadsheet, but I had to
resort to copying just 2 columns at a time and to repeat that 5 more times for
a 12 month document. Further more by copying and pasting, Calc accepted a 2
decimal place display, BUT after I saved the spreadsheet and re-opened it the 2
place display had disappeared.
Can someone kindly advise me the correct way of sending such a query to the
correct program section for future queries.
