I agree that just because a person has a computer, does not mean that they have the money for programs.
My first computer was a PentiumPro-200 with 128 RAM, with an bad copy of Win98. It was, in a previous life, a server. After I rescued it out of the trash, I used it from 1999-2004. In 2004 my mother died and I got enough money left over from the coffin to buy my first real computer. I think it is sad that I had to wait for someone to die for me to be able to afford technology. That is why I like to support OpenSource. I worked with hacked versions of programs and whatever anyone would give me a copy of until I could afford something for myself. My first version of OpenOffice (1.0?) took about a month to download on and off. My P-Pro would not redial if the connection was lost while I was at work so it took FOREVER.
