I am not saying the problem has to be blamed on OpenOffice. Only that
in the current state of affairs there are not enough information
available in the OOo world to cover a certain spectrum of the reality
some users face everyday.
I fully understand that I am a particular case, but I can tell you
that using a fully multilingual OS for 99% of my tasks, I find it
exeedingly hard to have to downgrade to using X11 and its half backed
character input support when I want to use OOo.
I may well have missed something here, and I know my computer expertise
is extremely limited.
If you have a multilingual OS, do you not have keyboard layouts supplied
with it? I've used Mandriva, which had keyboard layouts supplied, and I
used to use Windows, which I understand has got a lot of keyboard
layouts supplied. I'm presently using Ubuntu which has more supplied
keyboards than I'm likely to use.
Not having sufficient computer expertise, I don't know what the
alternatives are to X11, and I don't know what problems there might be
with X11.
Nor am I about to try to convince anyone to use an OS he has problems
with already, so I'll skip the proselytizing. Sorry I can't be of help.
