When I have problems with a paragraph or perhaps several consecutive
paragraphs, I create an empty paragraph above them with the formating I
want using styles. Then I cut the offending paragraph(s) and Edit > Paste
> Special > Unformatted text. If there are any character styles that need
to be changed, I change them.
