Thanks, Peter. After trashing the document I was first working on
and starting from scratch, I was able to get it to work if I removed
the "\" character from the field names before creating the document.
I don't know why the original document wouldn't work after I changed
the field names in the data source, but there you have it.
By the way, in my case, I have the Hidden Paragraph function BEFORE
the field on the line and it works fine. It can go before or after,
and what's more, !, not, EQ "" and perhaps other syntax work fine
too. I needed to test them out for my own sake just to make sure I
understood the finer points and tried every option I could think of.
