Generally speaking, when a database field is select, its entire
contents is also selected (highlighted). If you then type a word such as
"blue," that word replaces the entire field as you have noticed. When you
enter a database field, make sure to unselect the contents. Using the End
key will do this and place the cursor after the last character entered. In
this case, the cursor would be after the "w" in "blew". Using the
backspace key, you can remove the letters "ew". Then type in the letters
"ue". That should make your entry, "My dog is blue".
