I've found this works well:

Open a document, set the page size to the size of the card. set margins to about 0.15 inch
Paste in a logo graphic, if you have one.
Borders on paragraphs make great horizontal lines: insert a table if you need verticals.
type in the name, address, etc. and format to fit.

Export as a PDF (open in Acrobat Reader to confirm)
Adjust spacing, font size, etc (I usually tweak it a few times).

When you have a good PDF, email it to a print shop. I use Kinkos because they will print my PDF 10-up on 8.5 x 11 card stock.
Specify which type of stock you want, matte or glossy.

They will cut them, too, which is better than doing it yourself unless you have a very good paper cutter (like a RotoTrim).
