I use OOO on Linux every day. There are a few issues about
compatibility of formatting, particularly if a creator of a document in
Word isn't consistent in applying styles, pastes one table into a cell
in another table, etc. Few cases in the past three years where I
couldn't fix it.

I use OpenOffice.org on Linux and windows. Most of the time, I use
Linux.
