Hello,

Since final release of OO2.x I've always installed it directly on my
account as a full version. But today I've finished new samba server
setting up and would like to switch to network installation. First I
checked setup_guide and found only "multi-user" installation on
windows....nothing about network installation.... But I went through
installation anyway and installed it on one of the samba shares..... Now
I'd like to have ONLY "small" piece of OO on my computer (not full
~250MB) when all rest will be stored ONLY on my server. With OO1.x it
worked excellent. I had everything installed on server and only ~10MB on
my personal computer.

With oOO2.x I CAN'T do this :(..... is it "normal"? Or maybe there is a
way to do this?
Hi Marcin,
But if it is installed as a multiuser install, then all of the base files will be install in the selected directory (your samba share) and only when the user starts OOo will the local files be created.

Please see the SETUP GUIDE for 2.0. I believe it will help you solve
your problem. http://documentation.openoffice.org/

Hi,

It seems that either I'm "stupid" or documentation doesn't show what I really want to do. First of all: 1) you can NOT install OO2 on different location without switch "/a" with setup.exe - there is no sign of this in documentation I'm afraid, moreover there is NO explanation about other switches working with setup.exe 2) even if you have successfully installed OO2 on samba share (NOT on your local drive) - "setup.exe /a" and in the next step you'd like to install "workstation - 10-20MB" OO2 on your local drive it doesn't work because: after you click on openofficeorg202.msi from samba share installed directory and whether you choose single or multi user installation and after in the installer even if you choose "all parts should be taken from network drive" or NOT - you will have 200MB OO2 installed on your local driver instead of 10-20MB.

Hmmm,,, what the hell is wrong? OK I've got Polish version but installer should be the same, right? Or maybe there is something hidden in documentation - I'm joking now of course ;)

P.S. I'm not complaining about bad documentation - no no no..... I just want to find a solution....Documentation as a whole is really great - it's very similar to what I do in my everyday work - so it's really great ;)

Best regards,
Marcin
