OpenOffice.org (OOo) is an office suite not an email client like Thunderbird which you already use. However, you can create documents in Writer (OOo's word processor) and then email them from OOo as attachments. OOo opens your default email client and attaches the document to the email as an attachment. You then enter the email address, subject, and any comments you want in the message area. Then click Send.
