Few options... If you only want to view the file you can download a OOo file viewer .. The download size will be much smaller than downloading the entire OOo suite.
Instead of downloading you can order a CD with OOo on it - not the fastest remedy, but if your not in a hurry its a possibility. Lastly, you can unzip the file (using winzip for example) and have a read of the 'content.xml' file using either notepad or wordpad. This won't be the easiest since it will be in xml format, but it will allow you to get to the content quickly. If however you have password protected the file that option won't be available to you. Have fun... /paul On 5/9/06, Karen Wilbourn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Dear Sir or Madam I am having a problem opening some files with the .sxw file extension. I had a computer built for me using windows xp. The OpenOffice program was already installed when I got my computer. I have used it several times for word processing some very important legal documents. Needless to say my computer got zapped which caused me a great deal of trouble. I was however able to have all my data backed-up and re-installed. But when I went to use my openoffice program it was not there. I have gone to the openoffice download site and tried to download it but it looks as if it is going to take HOURS (7-?)! ( I have dial-up). Is there anything else I can use or do to open these files? I have tried word, note pad and a few others, all to no avail. I don't know if you can change a file extension and have the file still be correct? Can You Help? Karen Wilbourn
