Thank you for your response. I found the programs after sending my inquiry. I
was able to open and use Writer. However, I was disappointed to find that I
could not attach the resume I created to an email. I use Windows XP.

I am guessing, but it sounds like you are running some flavour of
Windows. If you have actually installed OOo (OpenOffice.org), the you
will find shortcuts to the OOo components (Writer, Calc, etc) in your
Start -> Programs/All Programs menu. If this is the case, you can delete
all the desktop items you refer to. OOo does not clutter up you desktop
with shortcut icons, although you can add them yourself. After you have
run one of the OOo programs for the first time, you will find an icon in
your taskbar tray called "OOo Quickstart". Right click on this icon and
start what you want.

Hope this helps.
