ftp://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/2.0.2rc4/ OOo_2.0.2rc4.20060408_MacOSXIntel_en-US.dmg

Copy the link above into Safari --

Download the file

While it is downloading, find the DVD that came with your mac scroll down until you see file called Optional installs

Go through the installation process and Select X11

Safari will warn you the the download contains a program (click continue)

Once the download completes there will be a new disk icon on your desktop

Open up that new disk icon and double click the installer --

It's much more complicated to type than it is to do -- let me know if you have any problems

None of the above. Please select MacOS as
your OS when asked when you click the green "get OpenOffice.org" button on http://www.openoffice.org/ Once on the page you will see another link for OOo on Intel part way down the page. This version is still in QA but
is quite stable.

Thank you,

Now, - I must be particularly stupid, - because No matter what I do, I am
making no progress.

From the beginning :

I " find " OpenOffice for Mac " using google search. I get a page starting " porting OpenOffice for Mac OS X ". I click on this, and I get a new page
which at its left top says " Mac OS X OpenOffice.org Port.

At this point, I become lost, because whilst I am able to find fresh pages by clicking the " download " buttons options on any new pages that appear, I am not able to find the page mentioned in your answer above, showing a green
button stating " get OpenOffice.org ".
What am I doing wrong ?

I appreciate your patience.

regards
John
