Hi all,

Hi Mel

I am trying to switch from PowerPoint to OO Impress, but I can't find the
equivalent of the "AutoFit text to placeholder" function of PP. This
function automatically adjusts the size of text (while keeping the relative
sizes) to ensure that it always fits into a given area. Is there any
equivalent in Impress? This one feature is preventing me from switching to
OO for a while, and I would really like to know whether it is only that I
can't find it, or whether it doesn't exist.

I've just done a little bit of fiddling around, and I've found something that seems to achieve what you want.

Here's what I've done:

- Opened a new blank presentation.

- Clicked on the third layout ("Title, Text") which gives the heading and bullet points that I think you're after.

- Right click on the bullet and select Text.

- Click the option "Fit to frame"

What happens here looks a little bit dodgy, but it does work.

Firstly, it looks like the frame has been resized. Then when you type the text, it appears to go out of the frame. Just ignore this and continue.

It also appears that the text hasn't been resized. Ignore this too and continue.

When you've finished typing and click out of the box, or start a slideshow, your text will fill the slide like you would like.

I assume there are some further steps you can follow (creating a template, changing the layout or creating a new layout) so that this setting is default for your future presentations.

Please let me know if this helps and is what you're looking forward, and anything extra you discover to make it work better for you.

Adrian
