Thanks Dan, but, no, I had turned that check mark off long ago and autocomplete still works as I have indicated previously.
I wish this could be fixed. Out of 100's of entries, only two varied in all the data in this particular column and autocomplete suggests these variations every time and it is simply a productivity killer since I don't know if I'll ever need again what autocomplete suggests everytime. It would be helpful if the activating key could be changed as in the word processing component, but changing it there does nothing within the spreadsheet and I need to press enter to go down a cell and that changes my input to the autocomplete suggestion which is exactly NOT what I need (then I have to go back to re-enter the data)! How VERY frustrating! All I can do is press Del before Enter every time and this is unnecessary and increases the number of keystrokes needed in 99%+ of my entries! I feel I may need to reload my copy of Excel to complete this pariticular job, since the OpenOffice spreadsheet is getting in my way instead of helping me do my work (I don't mean that as a slam of OpenOffice, since I am NOT a Microsoft fan; I mean this problem is destroying my being as productive as I need to be and my loyalties are to getting the job done!). In Excel, this damned feature can be turned off! I've wasted TOO much time at this point with this feature getting in my way causing multiple re-inputs and with my spending SO much time trying to figure out what to do to about it and searching and searching through screen after screen of FAQ's that didn't help and seeking email help about it that didn't help either. Autocomplete is supposed to be a productivity enhancer and not get in the users way, but it has been a destroyer of productivity in spite of what it may have been intended to do here!
