ok, this is, what I have in my /usr/bin directory:
file:///usr/bin/oobase1.9
file:///usr/bin/oocalc
file:///usr/bin/oocalc1.9
file:///usr/bin/ooconfig
file:///usr/bin/ooconfigimport
file:///usr/bin/oodraw
file:///usr/bin/oodraw1.9
file:///usr/bin/ooffice
file:///usr/bin/ooffice1.9
file:///usr/bin/oofromtemplate1.9
file:///usr/bin/oohtml1.9
file:///usr/bin/ooimpress
file:///usr/bin/ooimpress1.9
file:///usr/bin/oomath
file:///usr/bin/oomath1.9
file:///usr/bin/ooo-wrapper1.9
file:///usr/bin/ooregcomp
file:///usr/bin/ooweb1.9
file:///usr/bin/oowriter
file:///usr/bin/oowriter1.9

I should say, that I have installed version 1.1.5 and 1.9.129 (delivered
as OOo 2.0 by Mandriva) and also a "original" OOo 2.0.2 :)

Normally, when I want to start one component of these versions, I use
the menu entries, but I can also start them from the CLI by typing
'oobase1.9 &' (without the quotes) or 'ooimpress &' and the program runs
fine. The original version do I have to start from the CLI by typing
'soffice -writer &' and it works fine.

When you're using base, I assume, that you're using then the 1.9.129
from Mandriva. My suggestion is, that you should upgrade to the new
version (2.0.2), because I know, that there have been a lot of bugfixes.
Mandriva uses still a developer snapshot, this wasn't a final version of
the software.

When you need some help for the install of the original version, don't
hesitate to ask. I'll be happy to help, if I can. As you can see, I have
the 3 versions installed and it works perfect for me. I don't have any
problems. The original OOo is installed automatically in a different
directory (/opt), so there is no harm with your existing version.

Ah, I have another suggestion: Have you tried to upgrade your java
version? I know, that the version, delivered with Mandriva is rather
old, it's 1.4.2_09, I guess the current version, you can get from Sun is
1.5.0_06. And I know, that Base needs a very up to date java-version.
So, this is also worth a try.
