I am doing a small project (School project) on OpenOffice Suite in which a user simply chooses a preferred language from a drop-down menu and conveniently works in that language. Therefore I need infomation regarding such projects that involve translation. I need information on how to go about it, ie what techniques are use word for word translation or data base I need do some research ( initial proof-of-concept and determination of need, through the market analysis, product specification) and therefore coding (prototype production and prototype test ) in the desired language, here being setswana and Ikalanga. I would like info on how to go about it and where can I get resources I need for such projects. Below is the project description The project forms part of an effort to accelerate the development of accessible ICT tools suitable for the communication needs of Southern Africa in the global village. If time permits, the suite must be able to accept plug-ins, patches and upgrades. Deliverables: A greatly enhanced menu- and icon-driven Open Source Office Suite capable of delivering one or more of the follwing: word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database functionality.
