I'm using OpenOffice Writer and can't seem to find how to get the pages numbered consecutively, automatically -- i.e. p. 1, 2, 3 in the top corner.
Any suggestions?

1. Make the header field visible by selecting Insert > Header > Default (assuming you have only one page style, and the style is called Default).

2. Click in the Header field to place the insertion point in it.

3. Press Tab twice, which will put the insertion point at the right-hand edge of the Header field.

4. Select Insert > Fields > Page Number. Or if you want it to say "p. 1" for example: Type in "p. " (without the quotes), then Insert > Fields Page Number.
