The fix is not to run macros from strangers and to keep your virus
definitions up to date. OpenOffice.org warns you when macros are present
in a document and gives you the opportunity to disable them when this is
the case. It is possible to have certain paths (the paths where your own
documents reside) excluded from this check. When you download a file, it
makes sense to put it in a sandbox (temp dir for wich the check is not
disabled) first and open it from there. Don't let macros be executed.
Check if a macro is programmed to run upon loading of the document and
check what the macros do. If they look OK, then reload the document and
start using its macros.
