It looks like it's an XML file that was renamed to xls. Try using 'file / open' and selecting 'Microsoft Excel 2003 XML' as the file type.

I have a file called LMISessions.xls that will not open in Calc, only in

It begins:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<?mso-application progid="Excel.Sheet"?>
<Workbook xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:spreadsheet"
xmlns:o="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"
xmlns:x="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:excel"
xmlns:ss="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:spreadsheet"
xmlns:html="http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40";>
<DocumentProperties xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office">
 <Created>2004-04-05T09:38:35Z</Created>
 <Version>11.5606</Version>
</DocumentProperties>
<ExcelWorkbook xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:excel">
 <WindowHeight>10005</WindowHeight>
 <WindowWidth>10005</WindowWidth>
 <WindowTopX>120</WindowTopX>
 <WindowTopY>135</WindowTopY>
 <ProtectStructure>False</ProtectStructure>
 <ProtectWindows>False</ProtectWindows>
</ExcelWorkbook>

What gives??

Because the file is not complete ?
Does it open in Excel ?
