Good afternoon, I am using OO 2.x on two XP machines and have encountered problems with Impress on both relating to running speed.
On the first (desktop) - P4 3.20Mhz chip with 1gig RAM, the slide show runs ok but changes are slowish to respond and moving between slides in the create window is sluggish On the second machine (laptop - the one I use to present the slideshow) - P3 700Mhz chip with 192 meg RAM, the slideshow is very disjointed with up to 2 seconds response time for slide changes. Can you advise what the problem might be? If it was just the 'elderly' laptop, I'd put it down to inadequate hardware but the destop is definately recent enough to cope. Equally, I have neither problems on either machine when running Powerpoint. I am serious about switching to OO & already use Writer & Calc as first choice on both machines. However, I do not use Powerpoint / Impress as much but I don't want to have both suites loaded to be able to present slideshows. The problems above are the only barrier to my complete switch to OO & therefore any assistance you can give to solve the speed issue would be gratefully received.
