It seems some how the Find and Replace function for SCalc has been
disabled or is now inoperative for some reason. I have even tried
re-installing to no avail. Please help

I had that problem, but I guess the reason is not the same as in your
case, but just in case, I'll tell what I did:
Since I use Swedish version, I changed my keyboard shortcuts. The default
settings are:
Bold=Ctrl+b
Italic=Ctrl+i
Find/Replace=Ctrl+f
Ctrl+k=nothing
In Swedish, Bold=Fet and Italic=Kursiv, so I changed the shortcuts like
this:
Bold (Fet)=Ctrl+f
Italic (Kursiv)=Ctrl+k
Find/Replace=Ctrl+b (I just swapped the key sequence between Bold and
Find/Replace)
Ctrl+i=nothing
Excel, Swedish, has these shortcuts by default, and I used Excel a lot
before I knew of OpenOffice.
However, before I was too familiar with this or maybe I forgot one of the
settings or something like that, I couldn't access Find/Replace with
Ctrl+F or Ctrl+B, but it worked from the Edit menu... I don't remember
exactly what I did wrong, but there was a shortcut conflict if I remember
it correctly.
But maybe you didn't mess with the shortcuts at all, but this was my first
thought when I read about your problem.
Regards
