AAMOF I found bug #372719 on Debian site, relating to
libfreetype6_2.1.7-2.5 which seems to be causing the crashes: either
downgrading to 2.1.7-2.4 or installing the 2.1.7-3-i386.deb (provided by
Steve Langasek) solves the problem.
