this is work in progress, so it is possible that the menu command is
not yet visible in your build of OOo. For "full version" I guess we
meant that this feature is not part of any patch or update file set,
but I will check that and change the help accordingly to make it more
precise.

Hi Uwe,
While the updating function itself may still be work in progress, the
problem is that the item does not show up under help menu for some
installations (I suspect upgrades only) of the released stable version.
My suspicion is that there are 2 or more variants of 680m7 Build 9044
out on the mirrors.
I downloaded and upgrade 2.0.3 (Linux) from http://ftp.scarlet.be and
experience the problem (resolved by removing the second variant of my
user directory in my home directory that the upgrade created), but the
Windows upgrade from http://ftp/plusline.de did not exhibit any problem
and the "Check for updates" worked perfectly.
for this new "Check for Updates" feature, the souce code and the Online
Help are parts of the same CWS (child workspcae). This means when you
see "Check for Updates" in the Online Help, the command must be visible
in the Help menu, too.
If the command is not visible, please download an "official"
OpenOffice.org version. Some other distributors who build their own file
set may have omitted one important entry, so the command does not show up.
The file version.rc in the installation file set must contain a line
with the correct URL where OOo should connect to.
Regards
Uwe
