Before anything else right click and close the quickstarter icon in your taskbar tray (next to the clock). Firstly, have you checked that you have an uncorrupted download? To do this follow the MD5SUM instructions found under the "Instructions for using md5sums" link on this page: http://download.openoffice.org/2.0.3/md5sums.html which lists the checksums for all the current file versions of OOo downloads. I suspect your file is: OOo_2.0.3_Win32Intel_install.exe and the checksum is: 4ca876df0c73e37ccb6b83da79dc7813 If the checksum is different, your download is corrupt and you have no choice but to either download again, or ask someone with a broadband/dsl connection to download and burn it to CD for you, or order a CD copy from a local distributor http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdrom/ Since you have not told us what procedure you have used to uninstall the older version, I must start with the obvious: 1. Control Panel -> Add & Remove Programs 2. If 1. doesn't work, go to your file manger (My Computer, Windows Explorer, or whatever MS are calling it today) and look for a file called "setup.exe" in your "Program Files -> OpenOffice.org 2.0 -> program" sub-directory (folder). If it exists double click to run it and you should get an option to repair or uninstall. 3. If neither of the above work, use brute force (not recommended). Delete the "Program Files -> OpenOffice.org 2.0" directory (folder). Rename your "Documents & Settings -> <yourloginname> -> Application Data -> OpenOffice.org2" directory (folder) to something else. The renaming bit is so that you can preserve any OOo configurations you might want to recover when you have installed the new version. If you try all the above and you still need help, please post back to this list, giving as much info as possible about what you have done and any error messages you see. Hope this helps.
