[users] Sending/receiving faxes via an external serial modem? How?

If at all possible, I need to be able to send and receive faxes via modem.
In windoze I was using Winfax to send and receive faxes via an external
USRobotics 56k serial modem.
Is/Are there any app(s) that provide(s) similar functionality in SuSE 9.2?
If so, where can I find and how do I install and configure it/them?
