Not certain what you mean by "premiere", but depending on whose numbers you believe, it does not have the leading market share (what ever that means).

Number one request for improved support appears to be MS Access support. I mean by around 100 to 1. The primary audience does not use Oracle, even if Oracle is a nice product.

More people request PostGres support than Oracle support.

I have only seen a few Oracle requests. The primary advantage to Oracle is that it works well in what I would term HUGE environments with lots of money available for the project. Most of the database projects that I have seen, do not use Oracle unless the company has a license argreement with Oracle and then we require dedicated DBAs, etc... No argument that it is one awesome product, but I recomend against it for most projects on which I work (over kill and it would usually take most of the budget just or Oracle).

I know that none of this lessens your pain, but it might explain the current priorities.
