Arnold -- the =old only appears to work in the same sheet. I need to access
the name from another sheet.
Singleton -- I am subscribed. Thanks for the pointer to the PDF but that
reference is how to define a name. I have the name defined. I need to access
the name from another sheet. If I use the absolute address (ex. D28) from
sheet2 (ex.$sheet1.D28) then I get the data from sheet1 over to sheet2. I
would like to be able to get that data by name. Can you help?

Mac,
Just type
=old
in the cell that you want to display the value. In my case (OO0 2.0.3 on
WinXP) it returned the value of the cell I called old.
