Really? I would expect even the most naive user to do a bit of
exploring. In any case, please see

and the other guides. Also http://documentation.openoffice.org/ has many
HOW-TOs and other resources. 

If you have an instance of OOo open, you can use Help > Contents >
Formula to get the on-line information about using Math.
