I was unable to reproduce this problem with openoffice 2.03 or
staroffice 8.0 on FC5. However, I have encountered rather strange
problems which I have able to solve by renaming the ~/.openoffice.org2
to ~/.openoffice.org2.bak
This will essentially force openoffice to reset all configs to default.
Invoke openoffice and see if you encounter the same problem. If you do
not, then it is a config problem. If you do not ..... I am sorry I
cannot add anything further. Also you can get back all the previous
config by renaming ~/.openoffice.org2.bak to ~/.openoffice.org2

Best of luck
