G. Roddick and Joe. Version of OO is unknown, I'm sure there is a way to tell
but I looked at help for 20 minutes without getting anywhere. I am running
Windows XP Home. I just specify the upper left cell of where the copy is to go
to. Hope that helps some. Just tried it again today and it worked fine so there
is something strange going on.

Instead of selecting an area to paste, did you try to simply just click on
the cell that is to become the
top left cell of the pasted area?

I am thinking that if you had not exactly marked the paste area with the same
number of
rows and columns it may have confused Calc as to exactly what you were
asking it to do for you. Incidentally, I do not have this problem with
OOo2.0.3 on WinXP.

If this is not the problem, then apologies for taking up your time and
bandwidth.

Sometimes when I open an existing spreadsheet I have a problem with copy and
paste. I select an area with left click, then right click and get little menu
to cut or copy. I select copy. Then go to another area (in same sheet) and
select area with left click. Then when I do the right click the little menu
still says cut or copy (paste is not an option). Doesn't do this all the time
and I have no idea what causes it or what to do to get rid of it. Any ideas?
