In spreadsheets you may use aggregating features like consolidation,
subtotals, data pilots, sort/filter with extra options, SUMPRODUCT(),
array-functions, any combination of MATCH(), LOOKUP(), INDEX(),
OFFSET(), FIND(), SEARCH(). Most of this is prone to errors, because you
may get wrong matches due to duplicates, wrong data-types, complexity of
formulas. Reading the terms "sales" and "transaction" I think of a database.
