     Styles are explained in several User's Guides at
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/. There are also 
individual chapters of styles available at 
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/. One is 
listed in the Getting Started Guide, and the other is in the Writer 
Guide.
