ekenI can not find a way to successfully uninstall open office from my PC.

What have you tried as far as uninstalling it? And what operating system are you using? If you're using Windows, the normal way is to click Start, then Settings, then Control Panel, then add or remove programs. Have you tried that?

One additional piece of information -- you can't have OOo Quickstarter running. This would be an icon in the lower right part of the screen, near the clock. If it is running, then right click on the icon, and select Exit Quickstarter. Then you should be able to uninstall.
The program has made my Resume, produced in MSWord, unusable, and I have encountered nothing but problems with everything I've tried to do since this program was installed on my PC. It was installed so I could convert something or a friend who knows nothing about PCs and has caused me issue after issue for the last 3 months. I'd like it off my PC and I'd like to ratain all of the MSWord files that it has converted with out my permission.

The only way that files would be converted from MS Word to OOo would be if you: (a) opened them in OOo; (b) did a File > Save As, and saved them as OOo formats (.odt for text documents for example); and then (c) deleted the original MS Word file.

I'm guessing that it is unlikely that you did the above three steps, thus I can't imagine that your documents have been "converted". They should open just fine from MS Word. If you can't open them from within MS Word, then please get back to this list with specifics of what happens when you try, and maybe we can help determine what is going on.
Please advise,
  Michael
