Yes you must download the entire program. However, in the
installation process you are given a choice to Custom Install (what
you want to do) or a complete install (what you do NOT want to do).
With a custom install, you can also choose which folder to install
OOo. Among the options available, also choose to install only Base.
Some but not all functions of Base requires JRE (Java Runtime
Environment) so if you are given a choice of the program with or
without JRE, choose the one with JRE. If you are not given this
choice, download JRE from Sun Microsystems at
www.java.com.
