Have you closed the OOo quickstarter icon in your taskbar tray before starting the uninstall process? If not, right click on the icon and select "Exit Quickstarter" from the pop-up menu. I don't know why the uninstaller doesn't close this automatically, but it seems to be the most common cause of your problem. Just as a matter interest, why do wish to remove OOo? It is free and will coexist without interfering with any other office (word processor) software you may wish to try.
