I downloaded the Open Office 2.0 version so that I could open, edit, and

use regularly at work but I do not have at home. I can't afford to purchase
it. I heard about Open Office and wanted to try it. Once I downloaded the
software, I had Excel, Word, and Powerpoint applications but none for
Access. When I tried to open an Access document, it opened it in a Word
compatible format and it was computer jargon. Did I do something incorrectly
because others that have used your product state they have access to MS
Access.
As far as I know, Base is not compatible with Access.
Depends on how you mean that. I just used Base, which is the database
portion of OpenOffice, Brandy, to connect to a Microsoft Access database
that I have. But it only grabbed the tables and one of (the two) queries
(and put them both into the tables section but that's something to look
at later).
So, your Access database probably has forms and reports, in addition to
tables and queries, and these would have to be recreated. Then you could
connect to the data and edit it. But, and I think this is why James
asked about your operating system, I think there might be problems with
Base connecting to Access databases in some version of OpenOffice for
the Macintosh.
