Is the add-on in the list in "My Packages" in the Package Manager? If
so, the "remove button" should light up when you select the package.
I followed through on that link and got the message "Resource not found".
There is a straightforward tutorial on creating your own lookup macro at
this link:

It uses OOo's macro language so it is not restricted to Linux operating
systems.
