Check out CutePDF. Uses ghostscript to generate the PDF and adds a
printer
driver to your system.
And the light version is free.
CutePDF is certainly better than nothing. I use it often when I'm at work
using MS Office.
But it is much more limited than OpenOffice's PDF's. For example, you
can't create hyperlinks or bookmarks with CutePDF.

desktop publishing program
