James,
Thanks for answering my questions.
It is great to have a free database to use for our no-for-profit
donor records etc. and reassuring to know there are so many people
working on this product to make it work and keep it available. When
base is fully ready for Mac, I plan to recommend it as a standard for
our organization so everyone can afford to have a copy and use it.

Is the Intel Mac OS X version 2.0.3 considered generally useable?
It seems to crash a lot, wondering if it is my setup (new macbook
pro,
Tiger, X11) or the ooo software that is at fault.
Also, I want to import a MS Access database file (.mdb) and it
wouldn't do it. In the help, it said something about having ADO...
"OpenOffice.org requires the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)
to use the ADO interface. Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP include these
components by default. For earlier visions of Windows, you need to
install MDAC separately. You can download MDAC from the Microsoft web
site."
Has anyone found a way to use a .mdb file on their mac?
To answer your question, no. There is a project to work through this
for Linux, which when finished should easily port to the Mac.
As far as the crashes go, there is a fix that had legal issues that
have
been worked around that should be in 2.0.4. I was the release
authority
for 2.0.3 and yes, Base was seriously broken, but it did not work
at all
for 2.0.2 or earlier.
With 2.0.4, Base should be fully functional with the exception of MS
Access files.
