In my (so far brief) experiments with Fedora 5, I found it to be
antipathetic to third-party software.
I have a 64 bit computer also. I have decided to stick with 32 bit
operating systems. The available software has a long way to catch up.
Have a look at this article: What you should (and shouldn't) expect from
64-bit Linux : http://www.linux.com/article.pl?sid=06/09/07/1632253
I installed Thunderbird on Fedora 5. It wouldn't run because a C++
library in common use was not installed. The library was not even on
the huge installation DVD! I posted in the Fedora forum and, before the
expected lectures on installing only software from the repositories, one
more enlightened member gave me the command to use to get the library.
Your question seems more likely to get the desired information from a
similar source.
