I am using version 1.0 of OpenOffice.org.
This version is very old. It is recommended that you download and install the most current version, 2.0.3 (2.0.4 is due very soon). Find it at http://download.openoffice.org.
My problem is documents download from the internet and e-mail in OpenOffice.org
instead of WORD (Microsoft Works). I want to return to downloading documents
using WORD (Microsoft Works Version 6.0).

First, your statements are contradictory. Works and Word are not compatible. That is, Word is a word processing program, with its own format which can be read by Word and several other programs, including OpenOffice.org, but NOT by Works. Works, on the other hand, is an entry-level multi-function program, including a word processor, spreadsheet, database, and other functions, and produces several file formats that cannot be read by Word, or any other program I know, including OpenOffice.org. MS Works can, however, export its word processing files in Word format or in RTF (rich text format, readable by many programs), its spreadsheet files in Excel format, or in CSV (Comma-separated values, readable by many programs). Therefore, if your files are in Works format, only Works can read them.

If all this is gibberish to you, and you are really trying to say that files that are sent to you in Word (*.doc) format are opened automatically by OpenOffice.org, you chose to do that yourself when you installed OpenOffice.org. However, you can change that file association by right-clicking on any *.doc file on your computer, and choosing Open with..., and selecting MS Word (WinWord.exe), and checking the "Always use this program to open this type of file." or "Use this program as the default..." option.

Hope all this helps,
Matt Needles
