If you want to troubleshoot these things you need to show the
non-printing characters. You can do this by pressing the third button
from the right in the upper toolbar. After that you'll see floating dots
where you pushed the spacebar and a sign similar to the one on the
button where you hit the enter-key.
Now, it looks like in the second paragraph it seems like the word Carmen
is at the end of the line and the comma behind it just hops to the next
line. If you put the cursor in front of this word and then press the
enter-key you'll see the reason why this is happening. After the word
and before the comma is a space. If you delete that one, the comma will
stay with the word Carmen.
To hide the non-printing characters again press the button again.

Hi,
I would like help on the following question: in some (rare) cases, the comma
placed just after the last word on a line is send to the next line, as
illustrated in the attachment. Is there any way to impede this globally ?
This also happens with points, and in particular with end-points placed after
a footnote.
Regards,
Marc
