Yeah, X11 is a pain. I am assuming that you tried the downloaded version of
X11. That doesn't work, you have to get it from your install disk that should
have come with your mac. Just pop the disk in your drive, and in the Finder
window, scroll down (this is key--I didn't realize I had to scroll down and it
took me a week to figure it out), and there should be a package of "Optional
Installs". Just open that up and follow the instructions. Once you do that,
OOo should work. If you don't want to go through that trouble, NeoOffice is a
mac-native program based on OOo that doesn't need X11 and runs just like any
other mac app. I actually have both...

Hope that helps,

Subject: [users] installing OOo on Mac OSX Tigar issue with X11

i am trying to install Open Office on my new macbook pro (10.4.7). when i try
to start it up after installing it, it says that i need X11. when i try to
install X11, it says that a more recent software is already on my computer. i
followed the directions in the pdf about removing X11 and reinstalling it, but
there is no indication that X11 is on the computer. i am not sure where to go
from this point.

is there anyone that can help me?

thanks.
