The X11 downloaded from Apple is likely for OS X 10.3.  Your machine
being new probably has OS X 10.4.  You should find the X11 for 10.4 on a
CD or DVD that came with your system.

You could also try NeoOffice, which is based on OpenOffice.org, but does
not require X11. http://www.neooffice.org/
