In the System Tray (probably bottom right of your screen) there is an icon for OpenOffice (grey with two seagulls on it) Right click on this and choose Text Document 2. Click Start, find and "hover" the mouse over OpenOffice in the list of programs and then click on Writer. In either case the word processor will open with a new blank document If you are not running Windows, please tell us so that someone else can answer.
