OK. But OO is one component... Sure it would be useful to many people
not to download Impress or Calc etc. which they never will use, but
installing OO I never was asked to choose what parts of the software I
wanted to install.
Maybe someone else will give you more precise information.

My understanding is that the Windows installer allows for a customised
installation which enables the user to select the components to be
installed.
Is that not so, or have I been cruelly misled?

You cannot download only Writer. OpenOffice is a package that you
have to take as a whole. My OO 2. directory takes 347 kb.
Note: I am not a professional. Maybe you could have OO on less memory
space.

Hello, I am interested in trying out OpenOffice but only to download
the Writer/ word processing and Cal/spreadsheet program.
I would like to know the estimated space required to download the
OpenOffice Writer and the space to downlaod Calc.
How do I download only these two programs?
If I have to downlaod the whole suite, can I then disable the
programs that is not needed?
Looking forward to a quick reply from you and using Open Office in
the office I
am working in!
Regards
Ellen
