Terry is right. You can do a custom install and only install Writer and Calc. It will not save you much diskspace though, because OOo is an integrated officesuite. Be not installing some of the components you just save the space of the componentspecific parts.
Downside of not installing the other parts is that you don't get to know them and you will never be able to appreciate OOo for what it is as a whole.
