If I want to play if formal, then yes - it is in Help.
Unfortunatly, reading Help before performing trivial actions like
selecting several sheets or typing text is not a habbit of average Joe
user. Providing insructor-led training on all OO gotchas is expensive in
terms of both money and time (lost productivity), and even that would
not stop user from shooting himself in foot.

Based on this I believe that it is application should at least warn user
that data loss will happen.
I have filed RFE asking for warning
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=70320 .

Thanks.
WBR,
K. Palagin.
